LTPS STATEMENT REGARDING
KBA ARCHITECTURE LAWSUIT

October 19, 2006
The Board of Directors of the Levoy Theatre Preservation Society, Inc. would like to respond to the announcement of legal proceedings being taken against our organization by KBA Architecture. Unfortunately, we have not yet been served the legal documents by the court. Therefore, we cannot provide any reaction or statement to the press until we have these documents in our possession and have had the opportunity to review them with our legal team.

We would like to thank our many donors for their continued support and to let them know that our attorney, Richard H. Daniels, Esq., provides our legal representation on a fully pro-bono basis.

Any contributions to the LTPS will, as always, go to the direct support of the restoration and reopening of Millville's Levoy Theatre. Those wishing to make contributions to the LTPS may do so at our website at levoy.org or to P.O. Box 678, Millville, NJ 08332.

Maurice River Cruise Postponed Due To Extreme Weather Conditions
August 27, 2006
It figures: August was one of the dryest months on record until the day of our cruise... and whammo! Weather of biblical proportions moves through South Jersey.

So we must announce that the Sunday, August 27 Maurice River Cruises have been postponed due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, hail, torrential rain and possible tornados throughout the day as predicted by the National Weather Service. At least they're not predicting a rain of frogs and a plague of locusts.

If you purchased a ticket, you have probably been notified of this situation by telephone already or will be soon.

We will be working with Captain Dave in the next few days to reschedule for sometime in September. We will post the new schedule here and will attempt to contact everyone with the new date.

If you cannot join us at a later date or wish a refund of your ticket, please call our Levoy Line at 856-327-9870 to leave a message and we will arrange for your refund.

As usual, the only thing that's predictable about the weather in South Jersey is its unpredictability. We hope to see you in September... weather permitting, of course.

Songwriter's Guild to Perform Benefit Concert for the Levoy Theatre
May 25, 2006
The Cumberland County Songwriter's Guild (an aspiring non
profit organization) will be performing a benefit concert in collaboration with the Levoy Theatre Preservation Society on Third Friday, June 16, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Glasstown Plaza.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the restoration of the Levoy Theatre with all proceeds going directly to the cause. The Levoy Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.

As the centerpiece of Millville's downtown renaissance, the restoration and reopening of the Levoy Theatre as a Performing and Screen Arts Center is critical to the success of the Arts District.

The concert will feature local lyricists and musicians performing an array of original scores. In the event of rain, a rain date of June 23 has been scheduled.

For membership or additional information on the the Songwriter's Guild, visit their website: www.ccsg.co.nr. If you would like to make a donation to the Levoy Theatre, you can donate securely online now.

Levoy Roof and Weatherproofing Completed
November 25, 2005
The Levoy Theatre Preservation Society surmounted one of the most difficult obstacles to the landmark building's ultimate restoration: the roof was secured against the ravages of inclement weather. It is a significant milestone in the organization's efforts to reverse more than 30 years of neglect to the building, which has been closed since 1974.

All fourteen of the original trusses that support the enormous 140' x 60' main roof had to be rebuilt in order to preserve the historic integrity of The Levoy. A smaller flat roof and the stage roof were also covered.

"This may not sound like a major construction hurdle," Director of The Levoy Theatre Preservation Society and its founding member, Joseph H. Pierce, Sr., stated. "But if you consider what it took to seal this 10,000-sq. ft. building's roof, you can appreciate the significance. The project has monopolized the last seven years and $170,000 of our restoration budget. Now that it is finished, we have time and resources to 'turn the page' at last and proceed with the theater's interior restoration."

Closing the roof on the 97-year-old theater involved the labor of local volunteers and the services of commercial builder Stanker & Galetto of Vineland, NJ; the structural engineering firm of O'Donnell and Naccarato, headquartered in Philadelphia; the Millville roofing company, Oliver Construction; and Vineland's John Wilhelm Roofing – all four of which donated a part of their costs to The Levoy's restoration. In addition, the Cumberland County Improvement Authority provided dumpsters at no charge and waived landfill tipping fees for the past seven years.

Thanks to everyone who all who contributed to the project.

Now we begin Phase II: The Restoration!

Stay tuned.

Our New Brochure Hits The Streets
October 15, 2005
When you're out and about in Cumberland County, look for our new brochure. It's a treat for the eyes which features our new design motif (similar to this website), and full of surprises like a computer-rendering of the completed theatre's front.

Produced in cooperation with the Levoy Theatre Staff, our corporate partners Graphicus Communications and printed by Standard Publishing, the brochure also has a form on the back which you can use to make a donation... just in case you don't want to use our online form linked over there on the left side of the page.

If you can't find one, the Levoy concession stand has them when we're open on Third Fridays. If you have a business of place where people congregate and would like to have some brochures to give away, contact Amanda Page.
